In our first meetings with architects, we ask a question that usually surprises them: "Who will hear this tank?" They have been thinking about who will see it — of course they have, it is an aquarium. But in a hotel, a tank is heard by the guest in the room next door. In an office, it is heard by the CEO in a meeting. In a villa, it is heard by nobody, because a villa tank should be silent enough to forget. The seeing is the easy part. The hearing, the loading, the chemistry — that is the infrastructure. This article is the selection logic we walk architects through: three rooms, three tanks, three different engineering problems.
Room 1: Hotels and foyers — the 180-degree moment
A hotel lobby tank has one job: to be seen from everywhere and interrupt nothing. The semi-circle and bullet series (SKU 713/715) deliver the 180-degree visibility, and they demand hot-bent glass precision — corner seams would break the architectural flow the way a seam in a curtain wall breaks a facade. In a hotel, the tank is part of the welcome. It must never be part of the maintenance conversation.
Room 2: Corporate offices — the silent wall
An office tank works in centimeters, not gallons. Space is the premium, so wall-mounted and vertical series (SKU 709/714) claim footprint efficiency — and they must run below 30dB, because an executive meeting is not the place for a pump to state its opinion. In an office, the tank should be noticed exactly twice: when it is installed, and when somebody asks where it is.
Room 3: Luxury villas — the ecosystem that runs itself
A villa has space for the big display — 200 to 500 gallons — and the owner has everything except time. Heavy cabinet and Arowana series (SKU 710/722) bring structural load verification and high-volume sump filtration, holding the system in a zero-water-change state while the owner is traveling. In a villa, the tank is not a hobby. It is a piece of the house that happens to be alive.
The life support engine: what all three share
Every one of those rooms depends on the same invisible machinery: an integrated bottom sump. Unlike a top filter, the sump adds roughly 30% more water to the system — a chemical buffer that absorbs the mistakes of busy schedules. And the dry-wet separation trays trap solid waste above the water line, where it can be exported in seconds instead of decomposing into ammonia. The same engine, tuned differently for each room: louder margins for the villa, quieter pumps for the office, smaller footprints for the hotel.

Compliance: the part nobody sees until it matters
For project buyers, the "system" is only as good as its paperwork. Every Ruibit system is configured for the target market's voltage — 110V or 220V — with CE/UKCA/RoHS certified components. In a hotel or office, this is not a formality; commercial insurance requires it. And the glass travels in ISPM-15 plywood crates with a 50mm EPE buffer, holding the international breakage rate under 0.5%. The crate is not packaging. It is the project schedule, protected.
Three checkpoints before final specification
Site load analysis. For tanks over 300 liters, confirm the floor slab handles a localized load of 1.2kg per liter. The render looks great on the floor plan; the floor has the final word.
Utility integration. A dedicated GFCI-protected circuit, and proximity to a drainage point for the one-click drainage system. The two connections a tank needs — power and drain — should be decided before the tank is ordered, not after it arrives.
IoT connectivity. Verify Wi-Fi strength at the installation point. The smart monitoring sensors push real-time alerts for leaks and temperature shifts — but only if they can reach the network. A smart tank in a dead zone is a promise that cannot be delivered.
What the drawing table is for
Architects ask us one question more than any other: "How much of the design can we hide?" The best answer we ever gave took years to arrive at: hide as much as you want — the plumbing, the pumps, the sump, the sensors. But never hide the decision. The tank that looks effortless in a finished villa is the one whose specifications were argued about at the drawing table, not discovered in the field.
Every selection in this guide is a decision made early so the building never has to make it late. That is what an engineered aquarium is, in the end: not the room's decoration, but the project's insurance policy, written in glass and steel.
